Online Generators: Password, UUID, Lorem Ipsum and Barcode

Choose a tab below. Each tool also has its own page for a direct link (the QR code generator has its own page too). Nothing you generate is sent or stored.

Random Password Generator: Strong, Pronounceable and PIN, with a Strength Meter

Passwords are made in your browser with the system's own random generator, and nothing is sent or stored. Strength comes from length and randomness, so longer is better. Use a different password on every site and keep them in a password manager.

Type

UUID Generator for v4, v7 and ULID in Bulk, with a UUID Inspector

Pick a kind and count; press "Generate again" as often as you like. UUID v7 sorts by creation time, which makes a better database key than fully random v4. The box at the bottom inspects an existing UUID or ULID.

Lorem Ipsum Generator in Latin and Thai Placeholder Text for Designs

The Thai filler is made of short sentences built from common words and is meaningless on purpose. Use it to test line breaking and Thai fonts; never publish it as real content.

Barcode Generator: Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and Code 39 as SVG or PNG

Choose a type and enter the data; the image appears at once. For EAN and UPC you can leave off the final check digit and it is calculated; if you include one it is verified. Barcodes cannot hold Thai text; use a QR code for that.

    FAQ

    Are passwords made here safe?

They come from the browser's crypto.getRandomValues, a cryptographic random source, and we avoid the bias that would make some characters more likely. They are never sent or stored.

How long should a password be?

At least 14 mixed characters for ordinary accounts and 20 or more for important ones. Length matters more than special symbols.

How far can the "guessing time" be trusted?

It estimates an attacker who stole a database of fast hashes and tries every possibility. Real systems use much slower hashes or limit attempts, so they are safer than this figure, but passwords people choose themselves are usually far easier to guess than the maths suggests.

    Can two UUIDs collide?

In theory yes, but UUID v4 has 122 random bits: you would have to make about 2.7 quintillion (2.7×10^18) to reach a 50% chance of one clash. In practice they are unique.

    v4 or v7?

For database primary keys, v7 or ULID is better because they sort by time and cause fewer index page splits. If you do not want anyone to read the creation time from the id, use v4.

How is a ULID different from a UUID?

A ULID is 26 characters (a UUID is 36), sorts by time as plain text, and avoids the easily confused letters I L O U.

    What is lorem ipsum?

Scrambled Latin used in place of real content in designs, so you can judge type and layout without the words distracting you. It derives from Cicero's writing of about 45 BC.

Why is the Thai text meaningless?

So reviewers look at the layout instead of reading it, and so it cannot slip through as real content. Write real text yourself when you need it.

    What is the seed for?

The same number always gives the same text, handy when a team needs identical placeholder text in mock-ups or tests.

    What is a check digit?

The last digit of an EAN or UPC, calculated from the others to catch typing and scanning mistakes. If you leave it out we calculate it; if you include a wrong one we tell you what it should be.

Can I use these barcodes on products I sell?

The barcode itself follows the standard, but a real EAN or UPC number must be licensed through GS1 (GS1 Thailand in Thailand), not made up, or it may clash with another product.

Why will my barcode not scan?

Check that the quiet zone is wide enough (at least 10 bars), the bars are much darker than the background, and it is not printed too small. A standard EAN-13 is about 37 mm wide.
