Typed in the Wrong Language? How to Convert Thai and English Keyboard Mistakes

Almost everyone has typed half a page before noticing the keyboard was set to the other language, ending up with l;ylfu instead of สวัสดี. It happens because the same physical key produces different characters depending on the active layout.

Why it can be reversed exactly

The Thai Kedmanee layout assigns each Thai character to a fixed key that also carries an English letter on QWERTY. The l key gives ส and the ; key gives ว. Once you know the key positions, converting back is a direct lookup rather than a guess.

Switching layouts while typing

  • Windows: Alt + Shift or Win + Space
  • Mac: Control + Space or Caps Lock, depending on your settings
  • Thai Windows setups often use the ` key above Tab as the switch

Fixing text you already typed

Paste it into the keyboard layout converter. It detects whether the text is Thai or English and converts it, so you can copy the result straight back. Everything runs in your browser and your text is not sent anywhere.

Limits

The tool supports Kedmanee and US QWERTY only. If you use another layout, the result may not match.
