FAQ

Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and closing the tab clears them from memory.

Why can I not set a quality for PNG?

PNG is lossless, so it has no quality setting. To get a smaller file, make the picture smaller or convert to WebP or JPG.

How does "under X KB" work?

The tool encodes at several quality levels and picks the highest one whose file stays under your size. If even the lowest is too big, it tells you to shrink the picture as well.

Is EXIF / GPS data really removed?

Yes. The new picture is drawn from pixels only; hidden data is not copied from the original. To see what a picture hides, use the "Hidden data in pictures" tab.
