FAQ
Are the file and signature uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser. A signature you draw is not stored; closing the tab clears it.
Is this signature legally valid?
This tool places a picture of your signature on the page, like signing with a pen and scanning. It suits ordinary documents the recipient accepts. It is not a certified digital signature that can prove who signed and whether the file changed. Where a law or agency requires a trusted electronic signature, use that specific service.
Can someone copy my signature out of the file?
Yes. The signature picture is inside the file and anyone who has it can extract the picture, so do not send a signed file to someone you do not trust. If you worry, state the purpose of the document next to the signature.
Why does my signature have a white box?
An uploaded picture has a white background. Tick "Make the white background transparent" and adjust the level until the box is gone.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Can the watermark be removed?
The watermark is drawn onto the page as real content, so it is hard for others to remove, but not impossible. If edits must be blocked, add the watermark first and then use the "Protect / unlock" tab to forbid editing.
Is Thai supported?
Yes. It uses the Sarabun font (free under the OFL licence) and stores only the letters actually used, so the file grows very little.
Is the position right on rotated pages?
Yes. Positions are worked out as you see the page on screen, even when the page is rotated inside the file.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Why are there no fields to fill?
The file needs built-in form fields (an AcroForm) made by whoever wrote the document. A printed or scanned document has none; you would have to write over it with another tool.
Can I fill in Thai?
Yes. The Sarabun font is added only when a character is one the form's own font cannot write. Some PDF readers do not show an embedded font inside form fields, so tick "Lock the values" once you have finished: it shows the same everywhere.
What does locking the values do?
It turns the field values into part of the page. The fields disappear, everyone sees the same values and cannot edit them in the fields. It cannot be undone, so keep your original.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
Why remove file information?
A file you pass on can reveal the author's real name, the machine or software and the dates, for example a document drafted at a former employer. Removing it first keeps these from leaking.
Is everything really gone?
The document information (Info) and the XMP data are removed completely, but text or pictures on the pages themselves are not touched: a name typed on a page stays. Data some programs embed inside pictures is not checked.
Is the password sent anywhere?
No. The password and the file stay in your browser.
Can a forgotten password be recovered?
No, and this tool does not remove a password it does not know. AES-256 is built so that nobody can open the file without the password: keep it somewhere safe.
Can the password be in Thai?
Yes with AES-256, but some PDF readers handle non-Latin characters differently. If the file must open in several programs or be sent to others, Latin letters and digits are the safest.
AES-256 or AES-128?
AES-256 is stronger and opens in every current PDF reader. Use AES-128 only for people with a very old reader.
Do the print and copy limits really stop people?
They ask the PDF reader to comply, and most do, but they are not strong protection (a screenshot always works). The open password is real protection.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?

Which method is better?
If the file holds photos or illustrations, use "Shrink the pictures inside": the text stays sharp and selectable. For a scan where every page is one big picture, use "Turn every page into an image": it is much smaller, but the text cannot be selected (a scan has no selectable text to begin with).
Why did my file not get smaller?
A file of only text and lines is usually small already. Pictures that are not JPG (such as an embedded PNG) are not reduced by the first method; try turning the pages into images.
Do the pictures lose quality?
Shrinking pictures is lossy. "High quality" shows very little difference; "Smallest" shows compression marks in detailed pictures.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
How is "Redact" different from drawing a black box?
A plain black box leaves the text underneath inside the file, where anyone can copy it or remove the box. This tool turns each redacted page into a picture with the black boxes burned in before saving, so the original text is not in that page any more.
Why is the file bigger after redacting?
Redacted pages become pictures. Choose 150 dpi to keep it smaller, or run the "Compress PDF" tab afterwards.
What about Thai letters in text boxes?
The Sarabun font is embedded, so Thai shows correctly in every PDF reader.
