Compare Two Texts to Find the Differences by Line, Word or Character
When two versions of a document or piece of code look almost identical, finding the differences by eye is slow and easy to get wrong.
How to use it
Paste the original on the left and the new text on the right. The differences appear at once: green is added, red is removed, and every line also carries a + or − so you do not rely on colour alone.
Options
- Compare by line, word or character.
- Ignore upper and lower case.
- Ignore differences in spacing.
Good for
- Checking what changed in a new draft of a contract.
- Comparing configuration files from two machines.
- Reviewing edits to an article.
