Get a Colour Palette from an Image with HEX, RGB, HSL and a Contrast Check

When you design a site or slide to match a logo or photograph, choosing colours by eye is imprecise. This tool pulls the dominant colours out as codes you can use directly.

What you get

  • 3 to 12 dominant colours, in order of share of the picture.
  • HEX, RGB and HSL codes; tap to copy.
  • Click the picture to sample that exact pixel, or use the browser EyeDropper.
  • Export as CSS variables or JSON.

Checking readability

It shows the contrast ratio of white or black text on each colour. A ratio of at least 4.5 meets level AA for normal text.

Repeatable

The same picture always gives the same palette. It runs on your device and the picture is not uploaded.
